Taro Soup

Origin : Nepal

Ingredients: Bunch of Taro Leaves and Stems, 1 small onion, 1/2 cup lentil (Black or Mung), Boiled Eggs (Optional)

Spices Used

  • Cumin powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • Ginger Powder and
  • Himalayan Pink Salt

Cooking Method

Step 1

Fry above spices along with onion, garlic, ginger in a cooking pan with small amount of oil until it’s caramelised. 

Step 2

Cook black lentil or mung beans soup (Daal) as you normally would, but this time add cut Taro Leaves and Stems to the Daal. 

Step 3

Cook the lentil and taro leaves until the pressure cooker whistles for 2 times.

Step 4

After 2 whistles of pressure cooker, open up the lid and mash up the Taro leaves that has been properly cooked. Continue cooking the soup for another 5 minutes. 


Step 4

Add boiled eggs if you like to the soup and Enjoy your Taro and lentil soup.
